ABSTRACT

The study of the role of women in both the African Independent and Pentecostal Churches is a worthy case for attention in this age and time when gender equality should not only be considered essential in the sociopolitical field alone, but extended to religion for a balanced society. It should bring women out of the closet of the ‘to be seen, not heard’ syndrome, which has robbed Christendom of would-be spiritual and effective women in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is especially so in Nigeria, one of the most religious countries in the world. The role of women has been undermined and has not been allowed to reach its full potential.
