ABSTRACT

This article, detailing the history of the archives of Hissène Habré’s political police, reconsiders the “endless politico-legal soap opera” to which the thousands of victims of the regime were subjected in order to finally obtain justice. The archives, which have been used for the purposes of investigation, analysis, storytelling and media coverage, were studied in detail, page by page, year after year, finally providing the basis for the uncompromising condemnation for crimes against humanity, war crimes and torture of the former Chadian president in 2016 in Senegal.
