ABSTRACT

Czechia, with its over half a million foreigners, representing about 5 per cent of the population, is a new destination country in Europe. It already has 20 years of experience in developing its immigration and integration policies. The chapter presents the diachronic analysis of the development, and the relations between the two policies since 1999 when the first policy document was issued. It focuses on economic migration. Despite years of experience, as well as the fact that the same ministry is in charge of both policies, immigration and integration policy documents speak different languages and do not use the potential nexus. This is confirmed by the newest developments of opening to circular migration.
