ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the edited volume and reviews the contributions of the three sections of the book. The first section anchored the concepts of citizenship, learning, and democracy in philosophical pragmatism. The second section discussed citizenship practices and their circumstances in different locations in Uganda and Tanzania. The third section examined the discrepancies between ideals and practices in intentional attempts to change citizenship habits. The end of the chapter points to the challenges in researching learning and introduces further needs for exploring learning from different theoretical perspectives and in a variety of empirical contexts.
