ABSTRACT

In spite of its growing importance for the practice of innovation, Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) seems almost invisible in business contexts. Much of the work on the way individuals create, promote and implement ideas is done without considering the ethical dimensions as stressed by the literature on responsible innovation. In this chapter, we address this issue by providing a measurement scale for assessing RRI of employees in business contexts. We focus exclusively on creative behaviour of individuals in organizations when it comes to innovation. The measure was developed on the basis of a first selection of questionnaire items for assessing RRI from the literature. Next, those items were further refined through an empirical test among a sample of 244 respondents in order to compose a suitable measure. Such a measurement scale will enable future studies on the responsible innovation process in business contexts.
