ABSTRACT

The European Commission Expert Group on Policy Indicators for Responsible Research and Innovation published their final report in 2015. This chapter is the personal account of two authors who were strongly involved in the expert group work, as “rapporteur” and “chair”, respectively. It provides a first-hand narrative with some reflections on the results and the (lack of) translation of these results into policy and governance, at least to date, 2019. The chapter ends with an open question: Is RRI a sinking ship or a Flying Dutchman?
