ABSTRACT
Vision 2020 is a comprehensive effort aimed at offering a roadmap for achieving development outcomes in India’s Northeast region. Vision 2020, however, sees the challenge as essentially being about geographic possibility rather than engaging with the potentials created by the region’s people and their histories. This chapter debates whether a meaningful narrative about hope and progress for India’s Northeast region can be achieved if geography is allowed to side step history.
