ABSTRACT

While the understanding for the tremendous impact of today’s economies on the natural resources of our planet has been crystal clear over decades, to date countries are struggling to create goals of sustainable growth and move away from traditional views of economic success. The role of education with the four major thrusts of education for sustainable development: (1) improve basic education, (2) reorient existing education to address sustainable development, (3) develop public understanding, awareness, and (4) training are crucial to carefully cope with the remaining natural resources of this planet with a new outlook on the future.
