ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 deals with facilitated dialogue methods, including a suite of facilitated processes that seek to generate social-ecological innovations aimed at challenging and changing existing roles and routines, power dynamics, relations among groups and networks, resource flows, as well as meaning and values (and culture) across different contexts and scales. The chapter discusses appreciative enquiry, change labs, social innovation labs, the circle, Theory U, T-Labs, scenarios, world cafés, learning journeys, listening projects and dialogue interviewing. It goes on to discuss the types of social-ecological systems (SES) problems and research questions commonly addressed by this set of methods, as well as their limitations, resource implications and new emerging research directions. The chapter also includes an in-depth case study showcasing the application of facilitated dialogues and suggested further readings on these methods.
