ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce and define Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15), Life on Land, to the sport context. Drawing from the sport management, social justice, and public health literature, the importance of identifying the relationships between the well-being of all life on Earth and sport is detailed. Specifically, the uses and abuses of nonhuman life within sport are explained and sport and sport organizations are identified as by recognizing the symbiotic relationships that exist among all life on earth and challenging anthroparchic belief systems that need to be changed. Sustainability efforts that reflect this need within sport organizations have the potential to generate change at all levels of sport.
