ABSTRACT
Measuring the impact of international, national, and local-based sport programs in relation to Sustainable Development Goal 3 targets requires collaborative and cooperative approaches across multiple societal domains. As the authors discuss in this chapter, the measurement process can be complicated due to the diverse range of organizations that provides challenges for data collection, measurement, and evaluation. Sporting organizations can be large for-profit originations or local not-for-profit organizations run by volunteers. The approach to measurement in sport that focuses on performance enhancement for athletes might not be the right approach for measuring global health enhancement. Indicators of participation need to be aligned within a more inclusive sporting framework. Cultural shifts might also be required. However, careful consideration about effective measures might also initiated innovative programs across health and sport.
