ABSTRACT

Schools in many countries now have a wide range of diversity in their classrooms. New patterns in migration have meant that schools now have students from cultural groups that had not previously migrated in large numbers. This is in addition to aspects of diversity that are commonly considered such as disability, cognitive skills, gender/sexuality, and religious affiliation. This environment has led to the concept of superdiversity, which not only considers these aspects of diversity but also begins to consider the interaction between aspects of diversity. This field is in its infancy; however, this policy provides schools with a starting point for meeting the needs of their superdiverse student body.
