ABSTRACT

This chapter follows the argument by giving a detailed account on the sustainability issue of Punjab agriculture. While touching upon the food–water–energy nexus issue, the authors offer a much wider scope to approach the problem. In the final part of their investigation, several concrete remedial measures are proposed for more sustainable agriculture including crop diversification, efficient water use, soil health management, and organic farming in Punjab. The authors also take up Punjab for analysis. Here the issue of the excess and imbalanced input of chemical fertilizers is focused and investigated.
