ABSTRACT
The institutional conditions for the functioning of the Polish and Ukrainian economies are the basis for considerations on the condition of the economy and society of both of these countries. This chapter examines both formal and informal institutions. Formal institutions include the regulations and institutions of the state, and the informal institutions include customs, habits and social values that affect the economic condition of both countries and are not institutionally regulated. An important factor in the analysis carried out in this chapter is the aspect of constitutional, economic and political freedoms, and real opportunities to utilize them. There is a multivariant institutional structure, the conditionality of political and social governance and their connection with the characteristics of national culture and recognized forms of business.
