ABSTRACT
The introduction for “Autocratization in South Asia” begins with a broad description of the ongoing autocratization trend which characterizes South Asia today. Autocratization is defined and illustrated by trajectories relating to democratic performance across all four countries which are in focus of the book: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The final section of the chapter discusses South Asia autocratization in a broader context.
