ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter sets up an interest organization-specific framework of analysis based on the unique characteristics of the post-communist development. This framework allows for the topical, theoretical and methodological heterodoxy of our project and book. It presents an overview of topics, chapters and methodology as well as an explanation of the structure of the book. It focuses on the diversity of our methods and approaches, provides a justification of the country selection and policy areas and briefly presents the survey, on which many chapters are based.
