ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on describing the light painting workshops while attempting to explore possible future applications of the methodology with regard to art-based placemaking projects and the decolonising of locations. The primary material consists of the images created during the workshops, which were analysed from different perspectives—in particular, approaches based on semiotics. Additionally, the material includes interviews with the workshop participants. The interviewees described their experiences during the process, whether disguising themselves in historical clothes or working as a light painter or photographer changed their relationship to the sites and whether participating in these activities made the sites more meaningful to them.
