ABSTRACT
This volume takes a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to the nexus between travel, writing and media. It illustrates how current transformations invite us to revisit earlier periods of travel writing and their media environments. The Introduction maps the field with which this edited collection is concerned. It sketches the media history of travel representation, identifies important concepts and reviews the state of relevant research. The chapter ends with a survey of chapters.
