ABSTRACT

This chapter will explore the concept of globalisation and its impact on global health and wellbeing, particularly in the light of COVID 19, as well as concepts of de-globalisation, and the future of conceptualising health and wellbeing on this level. It will contend against over reliance upon structural theories and foundationalism to locate discussions around globalisation, arguing for rich, detailed, and contextualised research to bridge the gap between theory and research. This places emphasis upon individual volition, action, agency, and standpoints, to build more in-depth contextualised knowledge around health, wellbeing, and global issues, and bridge the gap between practice, theory, and research.
