ABSTRACT

Antiblackness, Gender and Fat is focused on the connection between antiblackness, antifatness, and Gender(ed) violence. The chapter argues that Black folks are coerced into the desire to be Gender(ed), a violent action due to the bifurcated human/animal experience and the ways that Black flesh has historically been understood as ungendered. This is particularly violent for the Black fat trans person because of the way Gender renders fatness unintelligible.
