ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the deep-rooted connections between the concept of human rights and the teachings and principles of Zoroastrianism. The author presents a brief look into the creation of human rights as a concept, the pursuit of Zarathustra and the origins of Zoroastrianism, and select key teachings of the faith. This chapter further connects her lifelong work in the criminal justice and human rights advocacy space to the influence of being raised as a Zoroastrian. It further encourages young Zoroastrians – and young people of any faith – to boldly pursue fighting injustice as a moral calling.
