ABSTRACT
Education for sustainable development requires competencies in ethics, and ethics is also an important subject in itself. The purpose of this chapter is to describe and reflect upon how ethics and sustainable development can be integrated in modern education in an effective and meaningful way. The structure for constructive alignment is used, i.e., intended learning outcomes, teaching and learning situations, and assessment. The integration should be domain specific to enhance motivation and support deep learning. It is important to note that in ethics education, students are expected to take a stand on their own opinions, while in education for sustainable development, students are usually not expected to argue against the norms and values in society.
