ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will discuss the new role and responsibilities of business in society and the new leadership style required in the age of globalization and sustainability. At present, the world is faced with a VUCA context of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Issues such as global warming and the coronavirus pandemic have accelerated this situation. Increasing actions and responsibilities are expected from business organizations as they inherently become part of the sustainability solutions the world needs to develop. Integrating the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) into management processes is now considered an essential component of modern management. It is increasingly expected that businesses will contribute to society and approach social issues via core business and philanthropic activities. We need to nurture a responsible leadership and sustainability mindset by developing CSR education in higher education.
