ABSTRACT

In the third seminar in the series, Garfinkel continues with his commentary on Kuhn, focusing on Kuhn’s use of the theme of gestalt switch and the analogy with conversion to conceptualize paradigm shifts. Garfinkel further elaborates on how gestalt themes, which are usually applied to the organization of visual fields, and illustrated by line drawings, can be used to understand the relationships between embodied practical action and the lived-space in which such actions occur.
