ABSTRACT

The City of Montréal has developed a wide array of initiatives to tackle housing issues. Montréal has steadily invested in housing programmes to mobilize and channel public and private investments. In particular, the City has actively supported the growth of social and community housing and put in place an inclusionary strategy to support mixed-income neighbourhoods and new developments. The chapter focuses on current practices and outlines challenges that remain as new housing policies evolve, both at the federal and provincial levels.
