ABSTRACT

Although the road towards the realization of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for women and girls in Africa has had challenges, modest progress has been made. However, experience has shown that SRHR for women may not be possible unless men are viewed as partners in this effort. This chapter takes a human rights approach to the mechanisms, benefits, challenges and barriers of involving men in SRHR conversations and work. Additionally, the chapter highlights areas requiring vigilance and recommends possible ways to move forward in this area to ensure the advancement of SRHR amongst women in Africa.
