ABSTRACT
In this introduction to the volume we lay out the theoretical framework to analyse qualitative link between mobilities and informality in order to better understand both processes in relation to each other. We draw on various strands of theories, namely on writings of authors of ‘mobility turn’, transnational migration and informality and informalisation of societies, in order to come to a productive symbiosis of the two large fields of informality and mobilities. The regional examples collected in this volume span from Central Asia to Russia and further to Eastern Europe.
