ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we return to the main aim of the anthology which was to understand and compare how gender is intertwined in dimensions of family and home, education, media, technology, sexuality and reproduction in Japan and Norway. We start by reflecting on the convergences and divergences we found when exploring social and cultural conceptions of gender equality in both national contexts. We then reflect on the lessons learned when undertaking cross-cultural research. We conclude by reflecting on questions of welfare and policy in Norway and Japan.
