ABSTRACT

This chapter is written by human rights defenders working at the Tree of Life Trust (TOL) in a situation of continuous/on-going violence in Zimbabwe. TOL is a community-based health and psychosocial support service that enables traumatised survivors to reconnect with self, nature, family and community. The chapter describes the history of the development of the Tree of Life approach, outlines the groupwork model itself in terms of theory, practice and delivery, and reflects on offering the model in Zimbabwe in various contexts and with different groups.
