ABSTRACT

The chapter incorporates the main methodological elements for managerial synapse construction, functioning, and generating performance. First are presented the main variables influencing the managerial synapse, divided into two categories – direct variables, organizational and individual, and indirect variables, which should be identified and taken into consideration in the entire process of managerial synapse construction and development. For the establishment of joint company stakeholders’ objectives and goals, are recommended three models: the SMART model, the processes-centered model, and the contingency model of objectives, indicating their advantages and limits.

A central element in the construction of the managerial synapse is the win-win negotiation based on multifaceted motivation, presented in detail. Performance of the managerial synapse depends heavily on the motivation of both its components (manager and relevant stakeholder), and to facilitate this has been elaborated a specific method, “orientative goals motivation matrix”. Because stakeholder perceptions are important in the construction and functioning of the managerial synapse, they are carefully analyzed and discussed.

In the second part of the chapter are described two alternatives to construct and implement the managerial synapse: separately as an autonomous mechanism in the framework of the current managerial system of the company, and as a component to a future company-relevant stakeholders-based management system. Their main advantages and ways to use them together are discussed.

Finally, is provided a guide for managerial synapse fulfilment, which has 14 operations structured in three phases: construction, functioning, and generating performance.
