ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the underlying motivations and inner workings of strategies for sustainable gender equality, one of the eight Communities of Practice (CoPs) supported by the ACT project. We will provide an overview of how and why Strategies was launched, offering both an empirical as well as experiential account of what has been achieved, bringing into the picture conceptual, theoretical and practical underpinnings of the life of the CoP, from its inception to the end of the ACT project, then to the afterlife of the CoP and the transitioning to a new network. We will report on the philosophy, methodology and all concrete steps we have followed to set up and launch our CoP, and stimulate the filtering, enrichment and exchange of knowledge, policies, know-how and lessons learned both onsite – in the post-Covid-19 world – online. The focal point and interest of the collaboration initiated by Strategies is sustainability, a concept we define in relation to recent developments in sustainable development as well as in project management.
