ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book highlights the importance of managerial oversight in the planning of urban infrastructure for making cities more livable by striking the right balance between mass transit systems and highways for cars. It deals with the challenges facing Central Asia’s energy infrastructure. The book deals with modernization of urban infrastructure in Central Asia, where the Smart Cities movement has rapidly grown into a major campaign, with the support of the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. It deals with issues related to an integrated Asia-Pacific natural gas market in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation region. The book analyzes the current state of irrigation in Central Asia.
