ABSTRACT
FRIENDSHIP is a Southern-led organization with a global team that realizes needs-based impact in communities in Bangladesh. This chapter explores the FRIENDSHIP case to expand understanding of the possibilities for collaboration between the Northern and Southern development partners in today’s world – a collaboration where civil society organizations can lead on policy and impact and where donor organizations are stimulated not to dominate but to contribute to the collaborative spirit and Southern-led impact and outcome. The chapter discusses the elements, values, and soft and hard skills that underlie the FRIENDSHIP model, building on the belief that only by starting development from the Global South can we create the ability to face the world’s most pressing issues.
