ABSTRACT

The introduction outlines the issues relating to Europe’s migration and refugee policy addressed in this volume and explains the philosophical approach of its contributions. It highlights the differences between the EU’s handling of refugees from the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and its general refugee policy and notes that the implementation of the mass influx directive in the case of refugees from Ukraine does not represent a paradigm shift in the European response to refugees. The introduction concludes with an overview of the contributions to the volume.
