ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the internationalization of higher education in the High North. It is based on two studies: an empirical study of the internationalization strategies at four universities (the Northern [Arctic] Federal University, the University of Oulu, Luleå University of Technology, and Nord University) and a study of an educational program developed in collaboration between three universities (the Moscow State Institute of International Relations [University], East China Normal University, and Nord University). This chapter discusses internationalization purposes and strategies at higher education institutions in the High North. It highlights the criteria that seem appropriate to include as preconditions for future projections on the internationalization of higher education in the High North means for international Arctic cooperation.
