ABSTRACT
This chapter explores attitudes to toleration in Protestant tracts, letters, confessions, and treaties. Whereas many Protestants found themselves at the receiving end of intolerance, Protestants themselves were often intolerant to others too. This chapter discusses some of the major ideas about toleration alongside more modest pleas from those requesting to be tolerated, as well as those who took issue with violence inflicted on minorities.
