ABSTRACT

Co-authored by Improving Social Inclusion for People with Dementia and Carers through Sharing Dance project researchers, the aim of this chapter is to describe a unique collaborative research approach that emerged from the Sharing Dance Older Adults project. The chapter covers the collaborative design and implementation of the project, involving multi-jurisdictional pilot studies with institutional and community research partners, including ageing and dementia care sectors. It emphasizes a creative collaboration approach involving working with a transdisciplinary team and diverse partners across community and long-term residential care settings. The reader will develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of collaborative arts-based ageing research, and how emergent promising practices can be applied to other contexts of ageing and health.
