ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a comparative study on the performance of 20 professional Fortnite players on Twitch and Twitter. The platforms cooperate mutually in video games-related discussions, engagement actions, and content production. The study analyses transmedia communication strategies used by the best-paid Fortnite players in 2021, in interactions with fans and viewers. In general terms, results indicate that players do not have well-planned communication for Twitch, in addition to transmission of games, and Twitter is used for the unfolding of lives and matches, being followed synchronously with streaming on Twitch.
