ABSTRACT
This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part raises the issue of gender sensitisation in higher education institutions in India, specifically Kolkata, by locating the discussion in the everyday form of classroom practices, pedagogy, curriculum design and diversity of student experiences. It explores the processes, experiences and challenges that guide collaborative feminist research into gender equality in higher education. The part uses the co-decolonising framework to investigate practices that influence gender issues in HE spaces in Cambodia. Promoting equitable gender sensitive practices cannot be limited to setting up grievance-redressal mechanisms or offering courses for students and faculty on gender issues as the entire burden of balancing the scales cannot be entrusted to women, non-binary groups or students who are interested in these issues.
