ABSTRACT

This chapter expands invention pedagogy to encompass the whole school. The chapter describes the use of educational innovations as tools for supporting schools in becoming inventive communities, that is, innovative schools. Accordingly, this chapter depicts schools as complex adaptive systems, focuses on the characteristics and enablers of the Innovative School, and presents experiences with co-development processes from eight Finnish innovative schools. In addition, the chapter envisions the next version 2.0 of the Innovative School Model that considers the factors which enable all actors to act as innovators and implement educational innovations.
