ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a multidisciplinary module that employs invention pedagogy to progress sustainability education in primary schools. The module was carried out with a class of students who were introduced to the principles of circular economy transitions. As well as following the procedures outlined by the invention pedagogy approach, in the module, digital prototyping was employed. The outcome of the invention process was a digital prototype of a circular economy invention. In addition, the students practiced collaborative learning and communication throughout the module. In their learning outcomes, they also demonstrated an understanding of the various modes of promoting more sustainable behaviors. It is concluded that inventing is a suitable means to implement sustainability education. It is also emphasized that an inventing process must yield an artifact that can also be a digital one.
