ABSTRACT
Epidemiology is a scientific discipline investigating the distribution and determinants of health-related states and events (including yet not limited to infectious diseases) in specific populations and settings. Epidemiology is therefore one of the crucial disciplines in determining the extent of this Covid-19 pandemic and what the short- and long-term effects could be on healthcare and society.
Data and facts are powerful tools for decision-making yet can also easily be misrepresented and misinterpreted, and depend highly on the quality of the data sources. In this chapter some common pitfalls in the interpretation of epidemiological data will be discussed using the Covid-19 data from Sweden.
