ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces and defines key topics such as ‘clean hydrogen,’ the ‘hydrogen economy,’ and the relevance of these for Saudi Arabia. Regarding the current relevance of clean hydrogen, the chapter first describes this in the global context, what the main drivers are and subsequently how Saudi Arabia views this in the context of its Circular Carbon Economy framework. The chapter also formulates the three main questions that this book aims to answer, a statement of this book aims, its conceptual framework, and how it is structured.
