ABSTRACT

Hydrogen is expected to play a key role in decarbonizing our world; however, most hydrogen today is produced from fossil fuels with CO2 being emitted to the atmosphere. Blue hydrogen, which is made from fossil fuels with CO2 capture, and green hydrogen, which is made from renewable resources, yield lower-carbon hydrogen which can be used to decarbonize many industries that cannot be decarbonized by renewable power alone. This chapter will highlight the opportunities and challenges for blue and green hydrogen.
