ABSTRACT
Carbon capture serves as the key enabler of the blue hydrogen economy. There are multiple projects underway around the world on the emerging carbon capture technologies. KAUST and Sustainable Energy Solutions Inc (part of Chart Industries) are developing a promising new technology in Saudi Arabia and have demonstrated it at a small pilot scale through various field tests. Details of this technology are provided in this technical note.
Saudi Arabia has a large gas turbine fleet for power generation, and the gas turbine manufacturers have been working on enabling hydrogen combustion in the gas turbines, making them the obvious choice for usage of blue hydrogen. A feasibility study of blue hydrogen for power generation in Saudi Arabia is also presented in this technical note.
