ABSTRACT
This chapter has two primary sections. First, it explores the abortion needs and experiences of sexual minority women, and gender minority people of all sexualities. It identifies the factors contributing to intended, unintended, and adolescent pregnancies among lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer, and other non-heterosexual women, and among trans men, nonbinary, agender, and other gender minority people. It also explores barriers to inclusive, affirming, and competent abortion care. Second, this chapter itemizes a variety of ways that abortion, queer, and trans rights are entangled, with a particular eye for building coalition and strengthening efforts to combat reproductive and social injustices. It ends with some high-level recommendations for abortion providers on creating affirming and inclusive abortion spaces and services.
