ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses religion’s constructive resources, approaches, and mechanisms that can contribute to human rights work. Our question here is: What are the potentials and specificities connected to how religion can positively engage with support for human rights? The context of this discussion is the evolution of human rights law and the religious connection and engagement which is explored through insights from recent scholarship. Demonstrating this positive theoretical and practical engagement of religions with human rights is provided through various examples worldwide.
