ABSTRACT

This chapter predicts the development trend of the film industry in North America in the 2020s by analyzing the financial status, annual performance and future trend of Walt Disney and Netflix, two of the six major Hollywood companies. The operational structure of Hollywood film companies had always been arranged according to the sequence of film copyright profits, that is, the traditional film distribution window. Like other major film festivals and film markets in the world, many film festivals and film markets in North America were also greatly affected. The Hollywood film industry has made adjustments according to the needs of the times. The purpose of Amazon’s streaming video business seems to be different from that of other companies. Hollywood companies have been making mergers and acquisitions, with the biggest one in recent years being the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney.
