ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to define the concept of pandemic, to present the main features and to characterise its essence. The author tries to build models of fighting the pandemic and present the challenges that a modern country must face during the crisis caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causing the disease COVID-19. The author defines ethical, political, economic, medical, logistic, and social challenges related to the pandemic of the SARS-CoV-2 causing the disease COVID-19 disease that the modern country had to deal with.
