ABSTRACT
The objective of this chapter is to present views formulated by third sector employees, volunteers and experts on the situation of NGOs in Poland, with special emphasis on their role as partners of the academic sector. The analysis focuses predominantly on organisations operating in the cultural sector. The in-depth interviews conducted for the purposes of this study revealed both the limits and potential fields of cooperation. Moreover, at the theoretical level of the analysis, various types of NGOs (charities, foundations, local, national, etc.) and factors impacting their relations with higher education institutions (HEIs including universities, UNI) were identified. The end result of this research is to present relations with academia as perceived from the perspective of representatives of non-governmental organisations investigated in the chapter.
